I drank my first coffee, in high school, at the Athens Waffle House right beside I-65. It was weak but it was the strongest thing I’d drank up to that point. It was cooling down while Willie Nelson was coming up on the juke box and it is a memory I’ve had burned into my brain since.

I’ve spent all kinds of nights there in the years since, as a young guy then as a college guy, then as a married guy, then as a father, then as a father twice-over. There ain’t any close to us here in Boston, but you know right where to find me when my travels take me back home. At a booth in the back, with a pot of coffee, a table full of friends, and a plate of hash browns all the way.

This print is not affiliated with Waffle House. I just make it because I love it.

Things that matter

As the writer in residence at Waffle House #1270, this keeps me centered when I’m at home.

Kitchen staple

Just like hash browns are a staple at Waffle House I knew this had to be a staple on the wall in my kitchen. It looks amazing below the dukes mayo print. I’m a huge fan of Micah’s prints and have them in multiple rooms of my house!

Blast from the past.

Beautiful print. Reminded me that this southern staple had somehow been left out of the rotation some years back. I travel a good bit and make a point to frequent their doors quite often now-a-days. Many thanks for the reminder of this southern delicacy.

All-Star Special Kind of Love

Late nights in a southern college town over cups of Waffle House coffee is where my best friend met his future bride. After a stint in the Air Force and many moves around the country, they've found themselves in an unfortunate state that severely lacks this iconic 24hr piece of Southern culture. I sent them one of these prints to celebrate those memories of our youth.
Thanks to this print, they don't have to drive 100+ miles to remind them of late night cups of coffee, hash browns, and their undying love.
