Some of the most magical and ordinary childhood memories were formed in and around a rocking chair on the porch. When I was a kid, the porch was the gathering place - neighbors would drop by unannounced, family held court, and kids ran around burning off energy after supper.
Even as a teenager, the best conversations with friends took place on a porch, late into the night. And as an adult, there's not a seat in the house I like better than a slow rock over some creaky boards. We didn't forget the blue porch ceiling either - ain't no haints gettin' in here.
