Split land. That’s what Yoknapatawpha means.
But that isn’t what it means. To scores, it means the land of the Snopes family. To a lesser number, it means the Square, the University. To me – a rich, complex, messy, gorgeous land of duality and literature and steamy summers. There the hills yawn until they flatten out just 35 miles west where the delta stretches out to Old Man River.
Faulkner’s postage stamp. Mississippi’s gem. The South’s South.

This print brings back great memories of trips to Rowan Oak during college. My husband took a Faulkner class in college and fell in love. A lot of people don't know what it means when they come in his office, so he gets to share!
Jumped on this bandwagon very early - love my print and love the fact that unless a person is a Faulkner fan, no one up here has any idea what it is. :-)
