I regret not having spent more time in Louisiana.
I’ve not done much in the pelican state but drive. Windows down in the sticky summers. Radio blasting. Heading either to or from home and eager to get there. Crisscrossing LA HWY 1 as we made our way across the state. Thinking about my old college roommate from Ruston. Or that night in NOLA. Or cussin’ a car with LSU flags headed to Baton Rouge (go Rebs!). Seeing folks who were hopping on 1 for just a few of her 432 miles. Heading to see family. To hug those who were hurting. To help those neighbors who were needing a hand.
For me, HWY 1 was always about a journey. But for a lot of y’all, it's about home.
