You don’t have to tell a Texan what’s great about Texas.

But one thing I think is just great is the story of their first flag. Lorenzo de Zavala proposed this flag in 1836 at Washington-on-the-Brazos – the convention that drafted the Texas Declaration of Independence from Mexico. But then some delegates wanted to muddy it up with a rainbow and some more stars and whatever else. It never came to be. But Mamie Cox, a hundred years later, found the papers, drew up a design, and called it a day. And I think it looks just right.

That blue though...

I got this one as a birthday present from my best friend and I love it! The color is great and goes well with my derby wall!

A piece of home for any homesick Texan.

I got this -- my first of many Old Try prints -- living far from Texas. Each time I reflected on it, though, it took me home.

The Stars at Night...

I live with a woman who was born and raised in the North Texas Hill Country, and we live here just on the edge of it. This print serves as balance to the Sweet Home I keep on the wall as a reminder of my birthplace, the Land of Cotton. The struggle that birthed this flag happened a long way from our homestead, but it serves as a proud reminder of the great Southerners that fought so hard for the Republic. And while we may not actually be deep in the heart, the stars shore are big and bright.

Beautiful reminder of home!

I ordered this print for my husband for Christmas a few years back. Living out of state it's always nice having little reminders of home. The quality is beautiful and we get so many compliments from everyone that comes into our home. We are actually on our 4th Old Try print, something this good just keeps you coming back!
