Detroit made us.

I worked on advertising car accounts for the a decade. I’ve traveled to Detroit more times that I can count. I’ve worked with guys in the C-suite and in the pits, and they’ve all got what we've got: pride in their home. I don’t know when we as Americans decided that Detroit was a punching bag. It created our way of life. They paved the first mile of road. Installed the first traffic light. Built the assembly line. It’s full of good people who have lived there for generations, and who are proud of where they’re from no matter what the rest of the world says. And I respect the hell out of them for it.

What goes into an Old Try letterpress print?

Love. History. Cut hands. And a little bit of cussing.

DISPLAY TYPE

Wooden & Worn

We have drawers of 100+ year old wooden (and lead) display type. It has been used to print rodeo posters and labor union broadsides and newspapers. It has aged like a champ - picking up dents and dings that give the characters character.

HAND-CARVED GRAPHICS

Linoleum & Magnesium

Each color gets a plate. And 95% of those plates are carved by hand. Some have fine line work (or just obnoxious repeating elements the designer insists on) and those get machined. It isn’t quick or cheap or easy, and that’s just how we like it.
