Detroit made us.
I've worked on car accounts for the last decade. As such, I've traveled to Detroit more times that I can count. I've worked with guys in the C-suite and in the pits, and they've all got what we've got: pride in their home. I don't know when we as Americans decided that Detroit was a punching bag. It created our way of life. They paved the first mile of road. Installed the first traffic light. Built the assembly line. It's full of good people who have lived there for generations, and who are proud of where they're from no matter what the rest of the world says. And I respect the hell out of them for it.
