Some of the South's finest work has come from cram sessions.
Like over a hundred years back, when a band director in Austin asked his roommate to help out and write the lyrics to a 'lively song.' He was given less than twenty four hours and a pot of strong coffee. Coming out a day later he'd written lyrics alright (even if he had to borrow a little bit of musical equity from a ten-year-old melody). The song, penned on a piece of scrap paper, began to make its rounds and within a matter of days was ringing all over campus. Since then its been sung countless times, both in victory and defeat, times of plenty and times of want.
And will be sung, I reckon, 'til Gabriel blows his horn.
