We are all equal in the Creator's eyes. But here we are, in a broken world that is breaking bodies and spirits of black boys and girls and has been for generations. I hate that this sign, from the 1963 March on Washington, seems like it could've been printed up yesterday.
It ain't just the police, y'all. That's just a symptom. It is all of us who come from a place of privilege and don't think a second thought about it. Because we don't have to. For those who have felt the sting of racism, my heart breaks.
For those who have been held back by a system that has been rigged against you, my soul aches. For those who are marching in the streets, for those raising their voices, for those working to bring change to this world, my spirit rejoices. Let me seek to listen. Seek to understand. Seek to love. Seek to reconcile. Seek to speak up. It is past damn time.
Save your words about this getting political. This has very little to do with politics and very much to do with systemic racism that all parties in history are guilty of and complicit in. This is a post about racism, and racism has no legs on which to stand. Should you want to stop supporting my business because you disagree, please take your money elsewhere.
