Old Try

Frost Heaves.

Managed to roundup a group of friends for a much needed weekend of relaxation and fellowship up in the Granite State.

I mean, when you got 4 architects, 3 advertisers, a coffee baron, a scientist and a book publisher, a giant cabin with tons of bar games, a couple of bottles of bourbon, spring skiing with temps dang near 50 (after a delayed departure due to 12" of snow down in Boston), a drive...

The Academy.

I spent a week in Long Beach, CA in October for my day job. 14 hours a day, 7 days in a row. I did very little outside of work. Hardly saw the sun, while I was reading about fabulous autumn weather back East.

But, I did get out to a store around the corner from my hotel called The Academy. I was blown away. It's a little, simple place. They make things there. What they don't make in their store...

Land Vs Ocean

We're blessed to have really talented friends.

A few posts back, I'd gushed about the fellows at Land Vs Ocean. And, back on October 4th, we were in Jackson hanging out with them and having one heck of a night with Art In The Age, Jesse from Colour Revolt, Kishi Bashi and about 150 of Jackson's finest folks.

That love affair stops when we are the ones having to actually do any of the labor. But watching it, fine. (See: maple syrup making, cranberry bogging.) Self picking...

Camping in a backyard in Maine.

We headed up to Maine on Saturday for the 2nd annual Miller Family Campout.

The Millers are the family we want to be: a picture of faith and love and commitment and sacrifice and family and beauty and talent and just right. They have been married 35 years, have three amazingly talented / successful children, and a labgolden retriever named Oliver that will make even the hardest of hearts melt....

It takes a village.

We spent the weekend in Akron at a friend from South Carolina's wedding. And since it had some Southerners around, you can certainly rest assured there was love and hugs and moonshine.

That was great. The only thing that was a little bit tricky was, thanks to an awesome Designsponge writeup, we had a bunch of orders roll in that we couldn't deal with until we got home a little while ago.

We were...
